Summer has come and gone and we have seen the first signs of winter.  Time to be thinking about putting the boats and other water craft away  and getting out the snowmobiles, skis, ice skates, and snow shoes. Winter is a beautiful time of year here in Northern Wisconsin and we have some of the most wonderful snowmobile trails in the state right here in the Minocqua area.  One of those trails is right out in front of Island Cove so there is not any State Highways to cross, only a small frontage road and then onto the lake and where ever you would like to go.  If you like to ski, Winter Park is within 15 minutes, and Powder Horn, Black Jack, and other ski hills are about an hour away.  Snow shoeing the State Forest is also a lot of fun and within minutes  of town. Ice fishing is also something that is very popular in the winter and you can often see a "small village" of ice shacks in the bay right out your patio door.  Fishing in that spot must be good!!!
